Various Stages · Great Lake Swimmers
I have seen you in various stages of undress.
I have seen you through various states of madness.
I have seen your refractions and I did not recognize you.
I have seen you in various states of madness.
How high your highest of heights? How low are your lows?
How high your highest of heights? How low are your lows?
I am sorry I had nothing left for you.
My mind was willing and my spirit was strong.
My lips were tired and tightened from singing along.
My eyelids are heavy as anchors thrown over.
How high your highest of heights? How low are your lows?
How high your highest of heights? How low are your lows?
I have seen you in the eyes of a hundred thousand other stranger faces.
I have seen you in unlikely and unfamiliar places.
I have seen you be reckless in matters of love.
I have seen by degrees the boiling point come and go.
How high your highest of heights? How low are your lows?
How high your highest of heights? How low are your lows?
What lies at the end of this long and dark and twisted road?
How high your highest of heights? How low are your lows?
I have seen you in various stages of undress.
I have seen you through various states of madness.

Moonlight In Vermont · The Four Freshmen
Pennies in a stream
Falling leaves a sycamore
Moonlight in Vermont
Gentle finger waves
Ski trails down a mountain side
Snowlight in Vermont
Telegraph cables, how they sing down the highway
As they travel each bend in the road
And when people meet, in this romantic setting
They're so hypnotized be the lovely
Evening summer breeze
Sweet warblings of the meadowlark
Moonlight in Vermont
Oakley Hall- Free Radicals Lament
I have a simple sadness, Hasn't got a name. Saw two years of our lives Down a dirty drain. One relief in freedom, So happy and so strange. Walking in the wild wind, Creature of ever-constant change. You sang songs of devotion, Out of the side of your mouth. I told you that I loved them, But tried to spit them out. It's like what this writer told me, Between sips of wine, "Sometimes you got a perfect story, Most times just a bunch of lines." Our friends would hate and judge us, What did they ever know? You said there'd be no love lost (?), After the after-glow. What starts like a supernova, Ends up like a drizzling rain. You're so happy that it's over, But isn't it a crying shame? I have a simple sadness, Hasn't got a name. Saw two years of our lives Down a dirty drain. Won relief in freedom, So happy and so strange, Walking in the wild wind, Creature of ever-constant change.

Muddy Waters Forty Days and Forty Nights
Forty days and forty nights
Since my baby left this town
Sunshinin' all day long
But the rain keep comin' down
She's my life I need her so
Why she left I just don't know
Forty days and forty nights
Since I set right down and cried
Keep rainin' all the time
But the river is runnin' dry
Lord help me it just ain't right
I love that girl with all-a my might
Forty days and forty nights
Since my baby broke my heart
Searchin' for her in a while
Like a blind man in the dark
Love can make a poor man rich
Or break his heart I don't know which
Forty days and forty nights
Like a ship out on the sea
Prayin' for her each night
That she would come back-a home to me
Life is love and love is right
I hope she come back home tonight

All the Roadrunning · Mark Knopfler · Emmylou Harris
A million miles our vagabond heels
Clocked up beneath the clouds
They're counting down to show time
When we do it for real with the crowds
Air miles are owing
But they don't come for free
And they don't give you any for pain
But if it's all for nothing
All the roadrunning's
Been in vain
The rimshots come down like cannon fire
And thunder off the wall
There's a man in every corner
And each one is giving his all
This is my piper
This is my drum
So you never will hear me complain
And if it's all for nothing
All the roadrunning's
Been in vain
All the roadrunning
All the roadrunning
Well if you're inclined
To go up on the wall
It can only be fast and high
And those who don't like the danger
Soon find something different to try
When there's only a ringin' in your ears
And an echo down memory lane
But if it's all for nothing
All the roadrunning's
Been in vain
All the roadrunning, all the roadrunning
All the roadrunning, all the roadrunning
The show's packing up
I sit and watch the convoy
Leaving town
There's no pretending I'm not a fool
For riding around and around
Like the pictures you keep of your old wall of death
You showed me one time on the plane
But if it's all for nothing
All the roadrunning's
Been in vain
A million miles of vagabond sky
Clocked up above the clouds
I'm still your man for the roaming
For as long as there's roamin' allowed
There'll be a rider
And there'll be a wall
As long as the dreamer remains
And if it's all for nothing
All the roadrunning's
Been in vain
All the roadrunning, all the roadrunning
All the roadrunning, all the roadrunning
All the roadrunning, all the roadrunning
All the roadrunning, all the roadrunning
